The Irish Branch of the Institute of Chartered Shipbrokers held their Annual Dinner on Friday, 2nd October, 2009.
The venue for this years Dinner, hosted by our Chairman, Mr. Chris Hawthorne, F.I.C.S. of M. F. Ewings, Belfast, was the impressive Thomond Park Stadium, Limerick . Guest of Honour was Mr. Peter Power T.D., Minister of State, Department of Foreign Affairs. Guest Speaker was Mr. Paul Wallace, ex Ireland International and ex British and Irish Lions.
The highlight of the evening was the presentation of Awards to some of this years successful students, who passed their exams in April. A word of thanks here must go the Irish Maritime Development Office for continuing their educational funding support to the Institute – it is vital that we maintain the highest educational standards and their support in this matter is very much appreciated.
On the evening Foundation Diplomas were awarded to Niamh Farrelly, Mason Hayes & Curren, Patricia Lowes, Argosea Services Ltd., Pawel Niciak, Hamilton Shipping, Shauna Dunne, I.P.S., Eugene Kinney,
Anley Maritime Agencies Ltd., Derek Dunne, Dublin Maritime, Margaret O’Donnell, Rusal Aughinish.
The IMDO Award for the Best Diploma Student was presented to Eugene Kinney of Anley Maritime Agencies Ltd., Warrenpoint and the Argosea Services Ltd., Award went to Mr. Lars Torum of Bank of Ireland for the Best Irish Branch Student 2009.
