Norfolkline recruiting 60 new staff in Belfast

Norfolkline to recruit 60 new staff in Belfast.

Maersk-owned Norfolkline will recruit 60 people for a new financial services centre in Belfast. The ro-ro company is relocating its European services base to Northern Ireland, where 30 people already work in financial positions, plus 360 in ferry and logistics roles.

The new jobs will be created over the next 12 to 18 months, it said. But it did not say how many  positions would be lost when it centralises operations from six other European countries to become more cost-competitive.

Government body Invest NI has offered £376,000 ($613,000) of support toward the project, which will return an additional £1m in wages and salaries annually.

Maersk said earlier this year it was in talks to sell Norfolkline to reduce its non-core businesses.
