INTERREG Atlantic Area Programme 2014-2020 Opening Call for projects Advance Notice

The INTERREG Atlantic Area Programme will launch the first call for projects on Tuesday, April 26th 2016.  The call will be organised in two stages:-

Stage 1 will involve the submission of Expressions of Interest (opening 26/04/2016 and closing 27/05/2016)  A shortlisting process will take place over the summer months and successful EOI applications will be invited to come forward to stage 2 in September 2016.

Stage 2 will involve the submission of full project applications.  While the precise dates for Stage 2 have yet to be agreed, it is envisaged that the call duration will be in the order of approx 8 weeks from September to November 2016 inc with decisions on project applications expected in January 2017. Successful Projects are expected to commence by the end of Quarter 1, 2017.

The format for the submission of Expressions of Interest and full applications will be online via the new programme website. The Applicants’ Programme Manual and Online Application form will be available from the Programme website during the second half of April.

The Expression of Interest will involve the submission of more broad based project information such as the overall objective of the project, transnational challenge addressed, partnership development and targeted outputs and results. An estimated budget will also be required at stage 1 of the process together with the project duration/timeline. It is envisaged that in PDF format the EOI should be approx 10-12 pages in length.

The Northern and Western Regional Assembly will be organising an Information seminar during April to present further details on the call and application process. Dates will be announced shortly.

Given the delays experienced with the programme’s approval, a large number of Expression of Interest Applications are anticipated. A partner search facility is also available through the programme website.

The programme expects to launch one call per annum over the period 2016-2020.  A total budget of €131m from the European Regional Development Fund will be available over the lifetime of the programme to support transnational projects across the five member states of Ireland, the UK, Spain, Portugal and France.  Projects will be supported at a grant rate of 75%.

The four INTERREG Atlantic Area Programme Priorities include:

1.    Innovation & Competitiveness
2.    Fostering Resource Efficiency
3.    Addressing Risk across the Atlantic Area
4.    Enhancing Biodiversity & the natural and cultural assets.
