Seago line, Maersk’s intra-european short sea carrier introduces a new dedicated service to Dublin to better serve its Irish customers, providing a direct service between Ireland and Algeciras to connect to the whole Mediterranean and North Africa, the newly announced Irish Sea product operated by Seago Line, the Intra-European shipping expert and part of the Maersk Group, is a complimentary addition to their network.

It will also offer an improved feeder product to Maersk Line providing enhanced transit times from the Far East for Irish cargo and an alternative to the current feeder option via Rotterdam. A convenient transshipment connection via the major Mediterranean hub in Algeciras (Spain) further allows easier access to other trades and helps sister companies Maersk Line and Safmarine deliver for customers in Ireland. Most notably, the new short sea service creates a great opportunity for a West Africa product offering with a new transshipment option to connect Ireland to Nigeria.

“We are thrilled to offer a new connection directly into Ireland and expand our product portfolio for the local market”, shares Seago Line General Manager for UK & Ireland Robert Clegg. “With competitive transit times and convenient berthing windows, we are well-placed to serve customers who seek new opportunities through this Mediterranean connection.” Seago Line’s Irish Sea service will be Maersk Group’s first ever direct connection to the Irish capital, supplementing the existing Latin American service to Cork operated by Maersk Line. Brian Godsafe, Managing Director at Maersk Line UK & Ireland comments: “It is a major change for our Irish customers, who will now receive a faster and direct product to better serve their import and export needs.”

The new service will offer 7 days transit time between Algeciras and Dublin (with vessels arriving and departing on Thursdays). The first call to Dublin is planned on 14th April. For more information on the new service, please access this service map.
