Join Stena Line's dynamic team as a Fleet Superintendent, the successful candidate will play a crucial role in overseeing the technical and operational performance of the company vessels and will be responsible for budgetary control, ensuring compliance with statutory requirements, conducting audits, and promoting a culture of continuous improvement.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Derive, implement, and maintain budgetary control for assigned company vessels, ensuring costs fall within budget figures.
  • Advise the Fleet Manager on discrepancies and actions to reduce expenditure.
  • Review ship orders for repairs, dry-dockings, refits, spares, and stores, ensuring they align with Company purchasing procedures.
  • Oversee technical operations, ensuring compliance with statutory requirements and maintaining valid certifications.
  • Conduct audits in accordance with the company’s inspection and audit schedules.
  • Report serious safety and pollution incidents to the Designated Person immediately.
  • Notify the Fleet Manager and DPA/CSO of any factors affecting the safe and efficient running of a vessel.
  • Ensure vessel procedures comply with Company SMS and statutory requirements by attending and sailing on vessels.
  • Oversee vessel performance and report technical deviations to the Fleet Manager.
  • Monitor the Planned Maintenance System to ensure timely completion and compliance with company KPIs.
  • Regularly inspect vessels and document findings.
  • Ensure necessary certifications and arrangements for new or chartered vessels, or route changes, are in place.
  • Monitor and analyse technical incident reports for appropriate corrective actions.
  • Liaise with the HSEQ & Security Department and the Designated Person as necessary.
  • Attend Shipmanagement meetings and communicate areas of concern.
  • Liaise with external agencies such as Flag State, Class, and P&I Clubs.
  • Assist with accident, incident, or technical investigations.
  • Manage or assist with projects as directed by the Fleet Manager and/or DPA/CSO.
  • Ensure compliance with internal environmental policies and regulations.
  • Collaborate with Senior Master, Senior Chief Engineer, and People Department on appointments in the Deck and Engine Room Department.

Qualifications:

  • Full Driving Licence
  • Senior Mariner, Senior Marine Engineer or Equivalent Experience
  • Leadership Experience
  • RoRo / RoPax Experience Desirable
