
Freedom of Information
The Freedom of Information Acts 1997, 2003 and 2014, give individuals the right to access records held by Irish Maritime Development Office as part of the Marine Institute and other state organisations. No reason is required explain the request information for the records. A decision on an individual request must normally be made within four weeks.
What can be asked for?
•All records created after the Act originally commenced on 21 April 1998;
•All records created earlier if needed to understand records created after 21 April 1998;
•All records relating to personal information, irrespective of when they were created;
•All records of staff created after 21 April 1995, or earlier if used adversely against a staff member.
The Irish Maritime Development Office as part of the Marine Institute’s function, its services and classes of records it holds are outlined in the Section 15 Reference Book of the Freedom of Information Act 2014.
How the Irish Maritime Development Office under the guidance of the Marine Institute makes decision under enactments and schemes we operate is outlined in Section 16 Reference Book.
These reference books will be replaced by a publication scheme, as provided for by Section 8 of the FOI Act 2014 once the relevant commencement order has been published.
