Hibernia Line Launch New Ferry Service Linking Cork and France
Wed, 06/24/2026 - 19:43 /The official launch has taken place of a new ferry service that will link Cork and mainland Europe. The new year-round route operated by Hibernia Line will connect Ringaskiddy in Cork with Boulogne-sur-Mer in France.
Hibernia Line has said the new connection will provide a reliable option for both passengers and freight operators, offering extra capacity for businesses and hauliers travelling between Ireland and mainland Europe.
The Cork-based company has said the service will create up to 250 jobs in Ireland and France, including crew positions and opportunities for cadets from the National Maritime College of Ireland in Ringaskiddy.
The St Patrick holds 193 cabins and the MV Akka has 227, with capacity for over 600 passengers per sailing.
The journey typically takes around 21.5 hours.
Chief Executive Officer with Hibernia Line Aidan Coffey said it was an "important and proud milestone" for the ferry operator.
He said: "The direct Cork to Boulogne-sur-Mer service strengthens connectivity between Ireland and continental Europe, providing an additional option for freight and passenger transport.
"This new route will deliver regular, reliable services supporting trade, tourism and regional economic activity on both sides. We look forward to welcoming customers onboard for many years to come."
